The latest appointments within hedge funds and fund of hedge funds as well as related service industries.

Legal and General has appointed Andrea Blance as group chief risk officer, subject to FSA approval. Blance will take on the role in August and will join the group's executive committee, leaving her current position as group financial controller. She will now report to group chief financial officer Nigel Wilson while working closely with the group's risk committee, chaired by John Stewart.

The global investment management company AllianceBernstein has appointed Sharon Fay, current head of value equities, to chief investment officer of equities. In this role she will oversee the company's growth and value investment services. Fay joined the company 20 years ago as a research analyst and has since held various positions, including chief investment officer of global equities from 2003 until she was named head of value equities in 2009.
The company has also announced the departure of Lisa Shalett, head of growth equities.

International law firm Appleby has appointed Christian Victory as an associate in its funds and investment services team. Victory transfers from the firm's British Virgin Islands office where he advised clients on the formation, establishment and listing of mutual funds and hedge funds. He also has experience in banking and finance, general lending, debt issuance and corporate and commercial law.

HSBC Securities Services (HSS) has appointed Callum Runcie as sales director for its fund services team in London. Runcie will be responsible for growing the European fund servicing business, focusing on alternative fund mangers and hedge funds. He will report to Tony McDonnell, head of European sales (alternatives). Runcie joins from Sophis UK where he worked as its hedge fund sales director since 2006.

RBC Dexia has appointed William Foley as director of securities lending sales. Foley will be based in London and report to the head of technical sales, market products and services Blair McPherson. He joins from JP Morgan where he was senior sales executive for agency securities lending in London.

Daiwa Capital Markets (DCM) has appointed Chris Brown to the newly created position of deputy head of fixed income for Europe and the Middle East and Vince Purton as head of debt capital markets for the same region.
Brown also takes over as head of the syndicate desk following Stephen Apted's departure. He will report to Keith Meekins, head of fixed income. Brown has been with Daiwa for 10 years, including a role as managing director in Singapore.
Purton steps up following the resignation of Sam Amalou, the previous head of DCM. Purton has been with Daiwa for over 20 years and most recently held the post of managing director. In his new position he reports to Wilfried Schmidt, executive officer and vice chairman of Daiwa Europe.

Daiwa has announced Jung Insuk's appointment as head of fixed income in Korea and Ajay Marwaha as head of fixed income in India. Insuk joins from Shinhan Investment where he was head of fixed income currency and commodities. H
Marwaha joins from Nomura Financial Advisory and Securities where he served as executive director and has previous been responsible for FICC product. These appointments form part of Daiwa's strategy to expand its Asian business with specific focus on fixed income and derivative operations

The Royal Bank of Canada's RBC Wealth Management has appointed Philip Harris as head of private client wealth management, British Isles, a new division. Harris will report to Paul Patterson, head of RBC wealth management. RBC Wealth Management provides integrated and diversified international wealth management expertise and solutions, asset management and trust services to high net worth individuals and to corporate and institutional clients. It has over C$490 billion of assets under administration and nearly C$240 billion of assets under management.

The asset management arm of Northern Trust, Northern Trust Global Investments, has announced the election of director of cash and fixed income product management David Rothon to the board of directors of the Institutional Money Market Funds Association (IMMFA). Rothon joined Northern Trust in 2004 as a fund manager in the global fixed income team. He has over 10 years of experience in cash management and has been involved with IMMFA for six years.
IMMFA is the trade association representing the triple-A rated money market funds industry in Europe, of which Northern Trust is a founding member.

Cazenove Capital has appointed John Warren to its investment funds business as fund manager on its UK equity team. He will join Cazenove Capital in September and will report to Tim Russell. Warren will work alongside fund manager Paul Marriage on the Cazenove Absolute UK Dynamic Fund, the Cazenove UK Dynamic Absolute Return Fund (offshore hedge fund) and the UK Smaller Companies Fund.
Warren has over 14 years experience and was previously director of UK mid and small-cap sales at UBS
