The latest appointments within hedge funds and fund of hedge funds as well as related service industries.

Alpha Strategic, the AIM listed hedge fund investment group, has appointed Florence Lombard as a non-executive director. Lombard was head of the Alternative Investment Management Association (Aima) in the UK from 1993 until the end of 2008. In April 2010 she was appointed a non-executive director of Aima. At the same time Colin Clark has resigned as a non-executive director.

Grey Spark Partners, a London-based business, management and technology consultancy specialising in capital markets, has appointed Jamie Lake as managing consultant. He will develop the investment banking operations team and reports to Bradley Wood, partner. Lake joins after five years at Goldman Sachs in various senior positions, most recently as executive director responsible for new business and industry initiatives affecting the collateral department.

EFX Prime Services, a division of First New York Securities, has hired Jonathan Shapiro and Gary Mednick as prime brokerage executives.  Both will be based in New York. Shapiro joins from Goldman Sachs where he was a senior relationship manager. Mednick previously was with Grace Financial where he built a strong client base of hedge fund managers and active traders.

OMFIF, a body bringing together central banks and sovereign wealth funds with the private sector, has appointed Neil Courtis as development director. Previously, he worked for a number of years in providing research services and training for central banks.

Canaccord Genuity has expanded its equity research group with the appointment of T Michael Walkley as managing director, senior equity analyst of wireless technologies. He is expected to start in early September. Walkley joins from Piper Jaffray where he was a managing director and senior research analyst of wireless technologies. Canaccord Genuity is the global capital markets division of Canaccord Financial which offers institutional and corporate clients idea-driven investment banking, research, sales and trading services.
