Latest appointments in the hedge funds industry and related industries.

HSBC Securities Services (HSS) has appointed Gina Slotosch to the new position of head of investor services within the global product management team from February 1, 2010. She will be based in London and lead the investor services product function supported by teams in Asia, Europe, Middle East and the Americas reporting to Ian Stephenson, global head of product for HSS’ Fund Services division. Slotosch has worked for HSBC for nearly five years.

Citigroup’s global transaction services business has appointed Diane Faulks as the head of investor relations for depository receipts services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Based in London she will report locally to Ayden Dagg, EMEA head of depositary receipts services, and globally to Beate Melten, global head of investor relations advisory in New York. Faulks was most recently with Cantos Communications as client director responsible for major corporate relationships.

Burford Capital, a commercial dispute investor, has appointed Jonathan Molot as the chief investment officer of Burford Group. He has also become a full equity partner. Molot has chaired Burford group’s investment committee since inception. Selvyn Seidel, chairman, and CEO Christopher Bogart, Burford’s founding principals, will continue in their current roles.
Peter Benzian has been appointed a managing director of Burford Group LLC, Burford Group’s US subsidiary, with responsibility for complex investment review and monitoring. Benzian was for many years a senior partner at Latham & Watkins and chairman of the litigation department of Latham’s San Diego office.
Renee Russell has been appointed manager, business affairs of Burford Group LLC. Stefanie Meyenhofer-Peters has joined the investment review team of Burford Group LLC.
Burford Capital’s strategy is to create and manage a portfolio of commercial dispute financing investments diversified by duration, claim type, geography and a number of other variables, with the aim of providing shareholders with attractive levels of dividends and capital growth.
The company is chaired by Sir Peter Middleton, former group chairman and group chief executive of Barclays Bank.

Hedge fund administrator Viteos Fund Service has expanded its global sales and relationship management team with the appointment of Francis Rainsford as executive vice president. Rainsford will lead the global client relationship management function and will provide clients with value added service in the areas of structuring, compliance, accounting and tax.
Viteos has also expanded its global sales operation with the appointment of Jonathan White, who previously served as business development manager for NorthPoint Solutions and as managing principal of R Capital Advisors. White will head North American sales and will be based in New York.
Andrew Kaufmann will continue in European sales and will be based in London. Robert Coates will lead the client relationship management function for the firm’s European clients. 

Lakshman Harendran has joined the RWC Partners’ convertible bond team from Morgan Stanley Investment Management where he was a member of its fixed income team with a focus on convertible bonds, investment grade and high yield corporate bonds. Previously Harendran had also worked in the senior loans team. RWC Partners manages approximately $1 billion in convertible bond assets.

Independent consultancy Redington, an adviser to pension funds and insurance companies, has appointed David Bennett, a director in the investment consulting team. He will devise investment strategies for clients, providing advice on asset and liability management.
