Northern Trust has appointed Fifi Ting as head of sales and client service for the company's asset management arm Northern Trust Global Investments in the Asia Pacific (excluding Japan region. Ting was responsible for client relations at AIG Investments in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East regions prior to joining Northern Trust.
Hedge fund management company Trafalgar Capital Management has appointed Josh Jacobson as partner and senior portfolio manager. Jacobson joins from a similar role at Cheyne Capital where he managed a European long/short equity portfolio for the Cheyne Value Fund. At Trafalgar, Jacobson will work alongside founder and CEO Chris Aarons and senior portfolio manager Arjuna Gamage on the Trafalgar Trading Fund.
Middle and back-office service provider Point Nine has appointed Jeff Kushner as a non-executive member of the board of directors. Kusher is currently CEO of BlueMountain Europe.
Evercore Partners is expanding its investment banking platform by establishing a US cash equities business and broadening its strategic capital markets advisory services. Charles Myers has joined as a senior managing director and will lead cash equities business. Myers was most recently global head of equities at Fox-Pitt Kelton. Jim Birle has joined as a senior advisor to advise clients on strategic capital markets issues. Birle joins from Merrill Lyncha where he was head of global equity capital markets.
NorthPoint Solutions has appointed Paul Jessup as head of business development and strategic relations for its US operations. Jessup joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch's global fund services division where he was vice president of business development.
Bravura Solutions has appointed Brian Mitchell as a non-executive director. Mitchell has over 30 years experience in the IT industry gained from working in the UK, Australia, Asia Pacific and the US. He was at Oracle Asia Pacific where he was senior vice-president responsible for growing Oracle's activities throughout the region.
US law firm Herzfeld & Rubin has announced that Carl McCarthy has joined as a member from Shearman & Sterling. McCarthy will work in the orporate and securities practice in the New York office.
The Investment Management Consultants Association has named John Granzow as president for a two-year term beginning on January 1, 2010. Granzow is managing director of investments at Wells Fargo Advisors in Charlotte, North Carolina. John Nersesian was elected as vice-president. Nersesian is managing director of wealth management services at Nuveen Investments in Chicago.
