Latest appointments within the hedge fund and related industries.

The UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) has appointed  Iain Cornish as chairman of the financial services practitioner panel for two years from December 1, 2009. Cornish takes the place of Nick Prettejohn. He has been chief executive of the Yorkshire Building Society since July 2003, and has been a member of the practitioner panel since March 2007.

Trinity Fund Administration has appointed ex-Goldman Sachs manager Brad Cowdroy to head its new Cayman Islands office.

Opus Fund Services has opened a Chicago office and appointed Stephen Giannone as president and office head. He has previously worked in senior management positions at Bear Stearns and Deutsche Bank

Alliance Bernstein has appointed Wayne Godlin as a member of its municipal bond portfolio-management team. Godlin, who has extensive investment expertise in investment-grade and high-yield municipal markets, will help design and manage the company's municipal investment strategies and customised product solutions. Previously he was chief municipal strategist and a portfolio manager for the high-yield municipal fund at Van Kampen, an investment management unit of Morgan Stanley.

Future Capital Partners has appointed Piers Denne to lead the company's business development strategy. Denne takes over an expanded head of sales and marketing role, including marketing the range of product launches that Future Capital has planned for the early part of 2010.

Cheyne Capital has appointed Tom Wiggin to the newly created position as head of UK marketing where will be responsible for marketing Cheyne's range of products in the UK. He will work with Max Nardulli who was recently appointed as head of international sales and distribution. Wiggin joins from Deutsche Bank in London where he was most recently managing director responsible for hedge fund relationships in Europe.

BMO Capital Markets, the investment and corporate banking arm of BMO Financial Group, has hired a team of four healthcare investment bankers in New York and Boston. Michael Neuberger will lead the healthcare group which will focus on the life sciences, medical technology and healthcare services industries. Neuberger joins BMO from Jefferies & Co in Boston where he managed its global healthcare group while driving its medical technology practice. Also joining the BMO healthcare team is Annette Grimaldi, who will lead the life sciences practice, as well as Kristen Morse and Lee Incandela who will be based in Boston.

Law firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has announced the return of George Curtis, former deputy director of the enforcement division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as a partner. Curtis left the firm in 2006 to serve as regional director of the SEC's central regional office and was appointed as Deputy Director in 2008.

Business solutions company DST Global Solutions has appointed three senior executives to its investment management solutions management team to support future growth plans. Philip Hogan joins as head of solutions management for asset servicing, analytics and data management. Most recently he was chief executive of the insurance BPO services business for HCL Technologies. Peter McKenna joins as market development director from a similar role at Temenos. Chris Lord joins as global head of development from Thomson Reuters where he was the global head of fundamental data. All three will report directly to Arun Sarwal, CEO for investment management solutions at DST.

Trading technology provider UNX has promoted executive Jay Hatho to chief technology officer. As CTO, Hatho oversees a team of engineers responsible for infrastructure management and for developing technology initiatives for UNX's trading platform.
