Latest appointments within the hedge fund and related industries.

GLG Partners has appointed Sir John Gieve, former deputy governor of the Bank of England, to be senior advisor. Gieve will be responsible for providing strategic advice to GLG on macro-economic and wider policy issues, particularly as they have an impact on the financial services sector and the regulatory environment.
He brings long experience in the public services, including 20 years at the UK Treasury and three years as the Bank of England's deputy governor until February 2009.
Gieve will focus primarily on the $2.37 billion UK equity business at GLG, run by John White and Jason Mackay.

Credit Suisse has appointed Michael Ingelog as CEO of the Nordic region. Ingelog, who joins in Januaey 2010, will report to Eric Varvel, CEO of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region . He will initially be based in London and will relocate to the Nordic region. Ingelog will also be a member of the EMEA operating committee. He joins Credit Suisse from Deutsche Bank where he was a managing director and head of institutional client group for the Nordic region and the Netherlands.

Olivier Khayat has been appointed as adviser to Jacques Ripoll, head of global investment management services (GIMS) at prime broker Newedge. Khayat is a member of the group general management committee and the executive committee of GIMS. He has worked for Newedge parent Société Générale since 2000, and was appointed global head of the fixed income currencies and commodities division for Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking in January 2008.

Trading platform provider Chi-X Europe has appointed  Alasdair Haynes as CEO. Haynes joins from ITG International where he was CEO from 2006-09 and responsible for all of ITG's non-North American businesses. He will replace Mark Howarth, who became interim CEO of Chi-X Europe in February 2009. Howarth will remain with Chi-X Europe for several months to work with Haynes and ensure a smooth transition, before returning to Chi-X Global.

Fund of hedge funds investment managers International Asset Management (IAM) has appointed Andrew Cade as head of client development and marketing and Mark Faulkenberg as head of operational due diligence. Based in IAM's London office, Cade joins IAM from ABN Amro where he was a member of the alternative investment funds team specialising in listed hedge and private equity funds.
Faulkenberg will report to Bernard Minsky, head of portfolio analysis and risk management. He joins IAM's New York office from Neuberger Berman, where he was senior vice president and head of operational due diligence, fund accounting and administration.

BNY Mellon Asset Servicing has named James Cecere as managing director of global product management for US financial institutions. He will be based principally in New York and reports to Dan Wywoda, BNY Mellon Asset Servicing's head of global product management. Before joining BNY Mellon, Cecere most recently helped launch an investment advisory company focused on the foreign exchange market.

Northern Trust has appointed Richard Barnett as chief investment officer of the company's personal financial services responsible for managing investment policy, asset allocation, portfolio construction and client service for $12 billion in client portfolios for the western region of Northern Trust. He is a member of Northern Trust's global investment policy committee and reports to Steven Bell, chairman and CEO of the western region. Barnett joined Northern Trust in 2002 and was most recently senior investment officer for the Los Angeles region.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research has hired Priya Misra as head of US rates strategy research. Misra will be responsible for the strategy and development of the bank's US rates research product and recommendations. Misra previously worked for Lehman Brothers, Barclays Capital and most recently for Nomura where she was head of US rates strategy.

Wellington Financial, a finance company providing growth capital to Canadian and US-based companies, has added Eric Speer to its team overseeing Wtransaction sourcing and business development activities in the western region of the US. Based in California, Speer joins from a role as a venture debt lender at Vencore Capital.
