Asia and emerging markets investment specialist Chartwell Partners has launched Emerging Markets Alpha. The service is aimed at high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors.

Chartwell president Carl Delfeld said the aim is to capture the growth opportunities and manage the risks that go with emerging markets investing. He said investing in Asia and emerging markets should be at the centre of a global portfolio. These countries generally offer stronger currencies, more fiscal discipline and a rising global middle-class.

Emerging Markets Alpha core service is the Emerging Markets Absolute Return portfolio that tries to outperform the MSCI Emerging Markets Index by weighting country-specific exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the portfolio rather than conventional weighting based only on the size of the market. For example, there are times when a relatively small market like Indonesia or Chile has a weighting larger than China in the portfolio.

In addition the portfolio offers investors exposure to emerging market fixed income, currencies, small caps and inverse ETFs that serve as a hedge by moving opposite emerging markets.

Chartwell is offering a monthly Emerging Markets Alpha Report and consulting services to help investors develop a comprehensive strategy for investing in emerging markets using ETFs, stock selections, and mutual funds as well as private equity funds.
